Self-Guided Virtual Reality Drop-In

Take a walk through history this Fall with the help of Virtual Reality as part of ACPL’s One County, One Book event.

Drop in to the Studio at Main and self-explore through Virtual Reality headsets an important chapter of American History, interact with materials and artifacts from ACPL's Rolland Center, and put yourself n Abraham Lincoln’s place as he attempts to navigate the tricky politics of the American Civil War. Headsets will be available for the entire 2 hours, but feel free to drop-in at any point during the time frame.

• Instructions for VR headset operation will be provided, and staff assistance is available upon request. Eight (8) headsets available; first-come, first-served. Headset time limited to 1 hour per patron. 

This self-guided program was designed for 2nd grade and up, but younger children may attend if an adult/guardian/caregiver is present to assist them. Each child in sixth grade or younger must be directly supervised and assisted by a responsible caregiver while in the Studio. 

This program is part of the One County, One Book community-wide reading initiative encouraging the community to read and engage with a single book! This year's One County, One Book selection is "Differ We Must: How Lincoln Succeeded in a Divided America" by journalist and NPR host Steve Inskeep. 

This initiative aims to unite people of all ages and backgrounds through programs, book clubs, and a community discussion with the author himself. Click Here to learn more.
