A screening of the PBS documentary, American Creed, will be followed by a panel discussion with community leaders exploring America's ideals and identity.
In partnership with PBS39, the library will screen the 2018 PBS documentary, American Creed. In the film, Condeleezza Rice, historian David Kennedy and others discuss their backgrounds and what it means to be an American in today's turbulent times. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion of local community leaders who will share their stories and thoughts about the questions raised in the film. Bruce Haines, Station Manager for PBS39 will be the moderator. The panelists will be: Councilwoman Michelle Chambers, Fort Wayne City Council At-Large; Irene Paxia, Executive Director, Amani Family Services; Get Nichols, Chief of School Leadership, Fort Wayne Community Schools, Dr. John Crawford, formerly Fort Wayne City Council At-Large Member, Curt Witcher, Manager, Genealogy Center, Allen County Public Library; Dr. Michael Wolf, Chairman, Political Science Department, Purdue Fort Wayne.
The Main Library includes six public meeting rooms, a theater, art gallery, underground parking garage, the Genealogy Center, and the Rolland Center for Lincoln Research. Parking at the main library is free if you have a valid library card. If you do not have a library card, parking costs $1/hour with a maximum charge of $7 for the day. Parking tickets must be taken inside the main library for validation and/or payment.
