IN-PERSON - Developing a Taste for Family History:

Discovering Your Ancestors Through Family Recipes

2026-10-03 10:00:00 2026-10-03 11:00:00 America/Indiana/Indianapolis IN-PERSON - Developing a Taste for Family History: Virtual Genealogy -

Saturday, October 03
10:00am - 11:00am

Every family recipe has a story.

Whether it is a handwritten card tucked into a cookbook, a favorite holiday dish, or a meal passed down through generations, recipes can provide valuable clues about our ancestors' lives, traditions, and migrations. This presentation explores how family recipes can be used as historical and genealogical sources, revealing cultural heritage, family relationships, and the everyday experiences that often go undocumented. Participants will discover ways to preserve these culinary treasures, document the stories behind them, and incorporate them into their family history research, creating a richer and more personal understanding of their ancestors' lives.

Program will take place in the Discovery Center inside the ACPL Genealogy Center.
