Already familiar with 3D printing concepts? Learn how to customize 3D models in Prusa Slicer by making it multicolor, adding "Fuzzy Skin," and scheduling a "pause" to insert a magnet.
Visit the Studio at Pontiacto learn intermediate 3D printing techniques and to create a Fossil Magnet! You will first browse through a list of various vertebrate, arthropod, and cephalopod fossils. After selecting one you like, upload to Prusa Slicer and customize with a number of different features: make the design multicolor, insert negative space for a magnet, and add "Fuzzy Skin" for texture. Participation in Intro to 3D Printing or previous familiarity with CAD software and 3D printing is highly recommended prior to attending this program. Limited to 6 participants.
This program was designed for 2nd grade and up, but younger children may attend if an adult/guardian/caregiver is present to assist them throughout the program. Each child in sixth grade or younger attending the program must be directly supervised and assisted by a responsible caregiver while in the Studio. Most ACPL programs welcome guests, however the Studio programs can only accommodate registered patrons and their supervising caregivers.

Pontiac Branch shares a campus with the Fort Wayne Urban League and Brightpoint’s Hanna Creighton Head Start. It has a 2 story playscape for children and artwork on the pillars by Theoplis Smith. Don’t miss the stained glass window that was designed by William L. Lupkin Designs and donated by the building’s architect, Alan R.Grinsfelder. The Pontiac Branch is a community destination for neighborhood kids, organizations & clubs, and those in need of computer access.
