Every family historian and genealogist sweats over the facts. We dig into the stuff our ancestors left behind to gather more facts and more context. Stories help us make sense of the data we find, what we’re told, and what doesn’t add up. Sometimes logic closes the gap, and sometimes we leap to conclusions. Stories introduce subjectivity, but without them, the data can be hollow. Narratives let us explore context, deduce reasoning, and connect decisions. This talk will focus on family history storytelling in a modern context. In a world where AI and DNA innovations have transformed our access to data and new storytelling forms are invented overnight, it’s time we re-invent how we look at family storytelling, update how we capture and preserve what we’ve learned, and visualize where it can go from here.
