Join us to celebrate the Free Breakfast for School Children Program developed by the Black Panther Party in 1969.

In January 1969, the Black Panther Party began the Free Breakfast for School Children program in Oakland, CA to cook and serve food to inner-city youth. The program was such a success that by the end of the year, the Panthers had set up kitchens across the nation, feeding 10,000 children every day before school. Join us to celebrate this important social program and learn more about the Black Panthers.

This program is intended for all ages. Space is limited: register in advance to reserve your spot and receive reminders. Registration will guarantee your seat until the event begins. Accessibility needs? Please contact ask@acpl.info as soon as possible - we’d love to help.
