Common names in the same location often become a brick wall for many genealogists. How do you determine which individual is the right one for my family? What records and processes can you apply to help you figure out which individual is the right one? What processes can you apply to help you figure out which individual is the right one? Using two cases, one set in Ohio and one in Mississippi, individuals will gain the skills to start working through this unique situation when it happens in their family.
Emily C. Richardson retired from 30 years in higher education to follow her passion of genealogy by opening Kinsearchers, a firm dedicated to helping others find their ancestors and preserve their photos, documents, and memorabilia. Growing up with a mother who was a genealogist introduced her to the importance of original documentation in the pursuit of family ancestors. Emily is currently the director-at-large for the Texas State Genealogical Society and the programming chair for the Robson Ranch Genealogy Club. Emily speaks professionally and teaches courses for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at UNT focused on genealogy.
