Did your Mexican ancestors immigrate to the United States in the late 19th or 20th centuries? This period of history witnessed significant waves of Mexican immigration to the U.S., both permanent and temporary. The types of immigration records introduced or refined during this era provide a wealth of biographical and kinship information for tracing individuals and families on both sides of the border.
Colleen Robledo Greene, MLIS, is an academic librarian, college educator, and tech nerd who has been researching her family history since 1997. She is the Digital Scholarship Librarian at California State University, Fullerton, and teaches an online graduate-level genealogical research methods course for San Jose State University. Colleen is a nationally recognized genealogy speaker and educator specializing in methodology; Mexican, Chicano & Hispanic research; libraries and archives; eLearning; and technology. Her Mexican ancestors hail from San Luis Potosí, Chihuahua, Durango, Tamaulipas, and Nuevo Leon, as well as California, New Mexico, and Texas.
