Discovering Pennsylvania Dutch Ancestors

Join us for a FREE virtual program on July 17 at 6:30 p.m. ET!

Who are the Pennsylvania Dutch and how can you trace your own ancestry back through their earliest immigrants in the late 17th - early 18th centuries? Learn about the origins, conventions, and new world emigration patterns of this community; discover useful record types and where to find them; and see how to piece all of this together to tell  your family’s story.

Jeanie Glaser is a professional genealogist and place historian. She is a native of the Pennsylvania Dutch heartland of southeastern Pennsylvania and an 11th generation American descendant of many Pennsylvania Dutch immigrants. Jeanie specializes in multiracial genealogy rooted in the early mid-Atlantic and southeastern US, as well as immigrants to the US from southern Italy. She is a longtime board member of the Pennsylvania Hallowed Grounds Project, a preservation nonprofit for historic African American cemeteries. Her favorite part of her job is incorporating landscapes and the built environment into genealogical narratives.
