Similar to other Americans, those whose ancestors come from Arab-identified countries of the Middle East North Africa (MENA) region can find clues to their family history in traditional genealogical sources. This presentation will introduce tips and tricks to conducting Arab American genealogical research. Beyond traditional resources, unique record groups specific to the Arab American experience will be addressed.

Presenter: Reem Awad-Rashmawi, JD

Reem Awad-Rashmawi is an immigration attorney, professional genealogist, and community historian. After researching her own family for over 3 decades, she opened Photographs and Memories by Reem, researching professionally and lecturing at societies and conferences nationwide. Reem is the founder of the National Society for Arab and Arab American Genealogy and is currently working on several Arab American history projects. She is a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists, National Genealogy Society, Oral History Association, and several regional, state and local genealogy organizations.
