Despite the Supreme Court sanctioned segregation, Jim Crow laws, and the like, the lives of African Americans were anything but dark and dreary. The vibrancy and accomplishments of blacks was chronicled wonderfully through a number of important race publications that emerged in the early decades of the 1900s. Presented by Tim Pinnick.
During the last three decades Tim Pinnick has been hardwired into the world of African American genealogy, as a writer, speaker, instructor. His long-time love affair with researching in university libraries culminated in 2019 with the debut of a landmark workshop course entitled “Building an African American Research Toolbox” at the Institute of Genealogy and Historical Research. In recent years, Tim created the business History and Genealogy Spotlight. It specializes in assisting libraries and individuals in identifying new and used African American books relevant to the African American research process.
