Mary Mannix, Maryland Room Manager at Frederick County Public Libraries in Frederick, Maryland, will discuss the on-line resources that her patrons and volunteers find to be the most useful for their Maryland family history research, especially during these pandemic times when most institutions are closed to the public.
Mary Mannix graduated from Hood College with a degree in history and political science and went on to earn a master’s degree in American history at University of Delaware, as well as a certificate in museum studies. She later graduated from University of Maryland College Park with a master’s degree in library science. Mary received an award from the History Section of the Reference and User Services Association, a division of the American Library Association, in 2011, for her contributions to historical and genealogical librarianship. She was honored in 2015 by the Sergeant Lawrence Everhart Chapter of the Maryland Society of Sons of the American Revolution in Frederick for her service to lineage associations. Mary has been instrumental in contributing digital collections, including the Thomas Johnson Letters, to the Digital Maryland project. She has served as vice chair and meetings coordinator for the Mid-Atlantic Regional Archives Conference, as well as the Maryland state representative to the group.
