Have thoughtful discussions about amazing novels with other tweens and experience a variety of literary genres

September: An elephant in the Garden a WW2 historical fiction book by Michael Morpurgo, A zookeeper and her family flee the bombing of Dresden in 1944 and bring their favorite elephant.

October: The First State of Being, a Newberry award winner, time traveling novel by Erin Entrada Kelly, A time-traveling teenager from the future, gets trapped in 1999.


November: On the Edge of the Dark Sea of Darkness by Andrew Peterson a bestselling fantasy adventure. Siblings, Janner, Tink, and Leeli Igiby experience many fantastic adventures while looking for a lost treasure.

All books are available at the library or through the Libby or Hoopla app in print and audio. Participants need to read
or listen to the novels before attending.

About the library

The New Haven branch received a brand new building in 2004, relocating from its old location on the corner of Ann St. and Main St. The library is surrounded by houses and is within walking distance of four schools. The library houses many of the previous years of the New Haven High School yearbooks and many books and primary resources on New Haven history. Special collection: Board games
