Have you ever wanted to try 3D printing but didn’t know where to start? Well, 2026 is your year! In honor of the 250th anniversary of our nation’s founding, The Studio at Main is offering a FREE self-directed project challenge that will introduce you to this exciting new technology. Simply visit The Studio at Main during Studio Open Hours from May 10-16 and ask for the step-by-step instructions required for making your own 3D-printed mini time capsule. Those who can complete the challenge with little or no assistance from staff will have their Studio supplies fee waived for this project. (One free time capsule per patron per day; filament color to be determined by Studio staff.) More advanced users can also take part in our “USA at 250” intermediate 3D-printing classes offered in July and August across ACPL. These programs will teach participants how to make larger time capsules decorated with custom 3D-printed signatures!
This self-directed program was designed for 2nd grade and up, but younger children may attend if an adult/guardian/caregiver is present to assist them throughout the program. Each child in sixth grade or younger attending the program must be directly supervised and assisted by a responsible caregiver while in the Studio.
