You got started on Ancestry, MyHeritage or FamilySearch, but you want to go a little deeper into your roots. Genealogist Jeremy Verdusco helps you locate your ancestors in the newspapers that documented their lives, and offers strategies for getting the most of the news clips you find.
This program centers on the presenter’s third great-grandmother Jane, who came to Carrollton, Michigan, from Canada as a child (with a few stops in between), and died in Saginaw in 1934. It discusses how to build a research plan from common newspaper items like obituaries, and shows examples through records of Jane’s life.
Genealogist Jeremy Verdusco has done family research for more than 15 years. He belongs to the Association of Professional Genealogists (APG), as well as the group’s Great Lakes Chapter. He also serves as an at-large board member for the Michigan Genealogical Council and as editor for the group’s quarterly newsletter. He specializes in Michigan research, but has also researched families from New York, Ohio, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Ontario, Canada and parts of Mexico.
