Meeting Room

Have thoughtful discussions about amazing novels with other tweens and experience a variety of literary genres

June: Dactyl Hill Squad an alternate history book by Daniel Jose Older, A New York Times Notable book and a Washington Post best book of the year. It’s 1863, and the Civil War rages between dinosaur-mounted armies down south, and a tense New York City seems on the brink of exploding into riots.

July: Little Women the semi-autobiographical novel of four sisters by Louisa May Alcott.

August: The City of Ember a post-apocalyptic fiction book by Jeanne DuPrau, a Kirkus editor’s choice and Mark Twain award winner. In the year 241, twelve-year-old Lina trades jobs on Assignment Day to be a Messenger to run to new places in her decaying but beloved city.

All books are available at the library or through the Libby or Hoopla app in print and audio. Participants need to read
or listen to the novels before attending.

Space is limited; register in advance to reserve your spot and receive reminders. Registration will guarantee your seat until the event begins. Accessibility needs? Please contact ask@acpl.info as soon as possible - we’d love to help.
