The Goodwin Family of Hell's Kitchen: A case study tracking an Irish-American family- This talk looks at a single immigrant family from the early 1870s to the 1950s. It tracks them back to Ireland and demonstrates how looking at collateral lines is a beneficial research strategy. It also demonstrates how multiple pathways can be followed to answer an origins question. It shows that by looking at the side doors of orphaned cousins and second spouses one might discover the parish of origin.
