In this program we are recycling plastic jug-sized containers to create winter gardens. Think milk and water jugs, ice cream buckets, and empty gallon-vinegar bottles. Once cleaned, we will repurpose our containers to hold fertilized soil and many, many kinds of seeds (flowers, native and non, herbs, and even vegetables!). These miniature gardens will germinate in time for the Spring. Bring many different containers to sow a variety of crops and flowers.
Librarians will also share information about ACPL's very own Seed Library repository and how to participate in using that resource.
It is encouraged that patrons bring their own plastic jugs to recycle! However, plastic jugs can be provided for at least one miniature garden per patron (if they do not bring their own recyclables.) All other supplies will be provided.
This program is intended for adults. Space is limited; register in advance to reserve your spot and receive reminders. Registration will guarantee your spot and receive reminders. Accessibility needs? Please contact ask@acpl.info as soon as possible - we'd love to help.
