Have you ever been drawn to the places of your ancestors or felt a curious ping of recognition when visiting? You are not alone. Ancestral homes and other buildings are important parts of the story, and researching them is a fun treasure hunt for context and details. This webinar will share practical resources to discover the history of your family’s places. Follow a case study and learn a step-by-step process of where to look. Learn pro tips for in-person research at special collections and crowdsourcing. This presentation will inspire attendees with the power that ancestral places have a unique—and often uncanny—ability to strengthen our sense of connection.

Rhonda Lauritzen is a professional biographer who has written more than a dozen books and many building histories. These include nominations to the National Register of Historic Places. She is also an in-demand speaker at international conferences. Rhonda has an MBA, served as CEO of her family business, and was a state college VP for a decade. She has been hired to help tell the stories of families, nonprofits, and cities.
