This lecture is a case study where I share how I identified the parents and siblings of my ancestor who was killed during the Civil War and who left behind few records. I'll also review the Genealogical Proof Standard and show how each step of the GPS applies to my research process. The case is built on indirect evidence, and I also used the FAN Club, and DNA evidence to help solve the mystery.

Lindsey Harner been conducting genealogy research since 2013. Her specialties include research in Pennsylvania and New York. She holds a B.A. Speech & Communication Studies from the Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and an M.S. in Media Management from Syracuse University.  Historical preservation and unraveling genealogical mysteries are my passions. She started Lindsey’s Histories in 2020 to help people with ancestors in Pennsylvania and upstate New York learn about and preserve their family history.
