Learn how to self-edit your story by studying three essential elements of storytelling: character, plot, and scene.

Want to take your writing to the next level? Have you finished a story, but don’t know where to go from there? Or do you know your story needs editing, but don’t know where or how to start? This is the program for you! Self-editing is an essential step in the writing process, but it can be hard to know how and where to start. In this program, you’ll learn beginner-friendly ways to understand the craft of storytelling and how to use that knowledge to deepen, refine, and improve your own stories.

This presentation series will explore three critical elements of storytelling: character, plot, and scene. We’ll examine what they are, what it takes to make them work, common problems for each element and some solutions, and more.

This program is for any adult who writes or wants to write, at any stage of the creative process. Whether you’ve got a finished novel or an idea you just want to explore, this program will give you some tools to help you along on your writing journey.

NOTE: This program is geared towards fiction writers. While writers of creative nonfiction and other genres of nonfiction may still find these concepts useful, but may need to tweak or tailor the information to suit their genre needs.

Space is limited: register in advance to reserve your spot and receive reminders. Registration will guarantee your seat until the event begins. Accessibility needs? Please contact ask@acpl.info as soon as possible - we'd love to help.
