On February 1, 1960, four young men walked into a Greensboro, NC Woolworth's Department Store, sat at the lunch counter, and ordered coffee and doughnuts. They were refused service because they were Black but continued to sit there until the store closed. The following day, more African Americans sat at the counter, and the protest grew. Later known as the Greensboro Four, the four men took an important step towards forcing the end of segregation. People of all ages are encouraged to join us to commemorate this historical event.
