Meeting Room

There's a difference between a yellow balloon and a concrete block. During this workshop, we'll orbit the importance of image, study one American Contemporary poem, and then write one of our own.

In this hour and a half generative workshop, teens will study a piece by an American contemporary poet with Erica Anderson-Senter, local poet and professor, and steep in the importance of what image does and is for poetry. This workshop will focus on how to evoke emotion for the poet and the reader and how to make poetry more accessible to teens. Students of this workshop will walk away with a poem and a better understanding of metaphor, simile, and image as a powerful tool in literature. Erica worked as a librarian for many years and has an MFA in Creative Writing with a concentration in Poetry.

Summer SPARK brings amazing events, creative programming, and fantastic prizes to everyone! Get started at www.acpl.info/spark. Summer SPARK is generously funded by the Foellinger Foundation, Friends of the Allen County Public Library and the Allen County Public Library Foundation.
