Those interested in the best new children’s literature will read potential award books and engage in lively debate each month for five months.
Do you love children's literature? Join us monthly through January for Best on the Bookshelves: A Mock Awards Book Club. Each month we will discuss three new children's picture books and two new children's chapter books. We want to encourage children, teens and adults to be a part of this great book club experience! Families can choose to read aloud the books together and join us as well. In January, we will meet a second time to review the titles and vote for our favorites! During each meeting, participants may choose to read and discuss just the picture books, just the chapter books or both. Come learn about and be a part of the prestigious Newbery and Caldecott Awards as we "Mock" through the best new children's books of the year.

The Main Library includes six public meeting rooms, a theater, art gallery, underground parking garage, the Genealogy Center, and the Rolland Center for Lincoln Research. Parking at the main library is free if you have a valid library card. If you do not have a library card, parking costs $1/hour with a maximum charge of $7 for the day. Parking tickets must be taken inside the main library for validation and/or payment.
