To-Go Program: Slingshot Straw Rocket

This rocket is a STEM science lesson in weight, thrust, drag, lift, stability, gravity, potential and kinetic energy. This program kit is ready to go home with you.

By registering for this take-home program, you are reserving one or more kits for pick up. Programs will be available beginning on the day listed and held for the week.  If you are unable to pick up your kits by the end of the week, please cancel your registration online or by calling an ACPL location. 

Request multiple kits by using the "Add More People" option during registration. You will receive one kit for each person registered.

A rocket has to have enough thrust to be able to lift up quickly and move against gravity. The force of the thrust has to be strong enough to overcome the weight of the rocket. Drag is a force that pushes the rocket backwards as it moves through the air.

• Craft Foam
• Pencil Eraser Caps
• Straws
• Paper Clips
• Rubber Band
• Popsicle Stick
• Wing Template

You'll Need:

• Scissors
• Masking Tape
• Pencil/Marker/Pen
• Ruler
