Learn about the history of bottle trees in Black American folklore and make your own miniature bottle tree to take home.
This Black History Month, participants will learn the art form of bottle trees based in African-American folklore and create their own bottle tree to take home. These garden sculptures have traveled with our African ancestors onto American soil and can often be seen in Southern gardens. The bottle tree will be crafted out of stone, wire, and mini craft bottles.
Due to the use of pliers/wire cutters, this program is intended for adults.
