Tweens and teens will explore the intersection of art and science through the lens of Ruth Asawa's unique wire sculptures.
Embrace your creativity while learning about an influential artist and the science behind light and shadow. Asawa thought about how light would cast shadows from her art. Preplanning skills will be used to mimic
this design style. After creating their sculptures attendees will have a chance to see how the wire can be manipulated to change the shape of the shadows cast by flashlights. We’ll use jewelry wire and tools to create sculptures making this program just right for grades 4th-6th.

The Main Library includes six public meeting rooms, a theater, art gallery, underground parking garage, the Genealogy Center, and the Rolland Center for Lincoln Research. Parking at the main library is free if you have a valid library card. If you do not have a library card, parking costs $1/hour with a maximum charge of $7 for the day. Parking tickets must be taken inside the main library for validation and/or payment.
